The Blue Star Memorial Marker Program honors all men and women, past, present, and future, who serve in the United States Armed Services.

The Blue Star Memorial By-Way Marker was officially introduced at the NCSGC (NGC) at the April 1981 convention in Atlanta, Georgia, which was attended by many members of Lullwater Garden Club and the Dekalb Federation. The By-way marker can be placed in parks, historic sites and other civic locations.

Lullwater Garden Club dedicated The Blue Star Memorial By-Way Marker in Lullwater Conservation Garden on Flag Day, June 14, 2025. It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Perfect for the dedication of the Blue Star By-Way Marker. Diane Hunter the President of the Garden Club of Georgia and Jan Thiese, GCG Chair of the Blue Star program, both spoke at the dedication.

In November 2006, Lullwater Garden Club created the Patriots’ Bridge Memorial Garden as we wished to honor and always remember the many sacrifices made over the years by the members of the Lullwater Garden Club and their relatives who served in combat to keep our country free. In this area there is a bench located across from the Blue Star By Way Marker so you can sit and reflect.

As we often hear “Freedom is not Free”.

Blue Star Markers are a way of saying Thank You to the heroes of our Armed Forces, past, present and future, who sacrifice so much for us each and every day.
